Prime Social is committed to safety and the well being of our staff and members. In light of recent events, Prime Social will be temporarily closed until further notice in efforts to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus, and the resulting respiratory disease, COVID-19.
This announcement comes after news from Mayor Turner and Judge Hidalgo for all bars, restaurants, and nightclubs in Houston and Harris County to close for at least the next fifteen days.
Prior to this announcement, we implemented precautionary measures to ensure the safety of our members and employees. Along with standard cleaning practices of sanitizing high contact surfaces, Prime included methods that were uniquely poker.
To further stop potential spread of coronavirus, Prime cracked open new decks of cards every few hours at the tables. We sanitized chairs, tables, door handles, and even the poker chips. Hand sanitizer was readily available to all, stationed throughout the poker venue. You may have noticed our door was wide open, welcoming our members right in. This was also a safety measure meant to prevent the need of pulling the door handle, eliminating contact.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we make this announcement. Prime Social will continue to update its members as much as possible during this time.
Please stay safe.
The 7th Annual Mansfield Ed Tessaro Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament is coming to Prime Social. The multi-state tournament presented by the 2020 ALS Texas Hold’em committee honors Ed Tessaro. Tessaro is a former Macy’s executive, philanthropist, and mountain climber. Since his diagnosis, he and his wife have become involved with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Together, they helped to raise more than $6 million for ALS treatments and research. In fact, Ed was one of the initial patients in the first U.S. ALS Stem Trial in 2010. He has been a role model of courage and dedication to those affected by the disease.
The Texas-sized charity event will benefit MDA Houston, home of Prime Social Poker Room. MDA supports medical research and leads the world in non-profit health agencies. MDA continues to explore and discover new treatments for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
The Houston based event is one of many regional tournaments taking place across the nation. The winner of the regional tournament at Prime will enjoy an all expense paid- trip to Atlanta, plus VIP entry in the Mansfield Cares Golf Classic. Rest easy before heading to the Final Table with accommodations at the luxury Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Players competing at the Final Table of the 7th Annual Ed Tessaro Texas Hold’em Poker tournament will be vying for $5,000 in cash and gold.
How to Participate
Prime Social is proud to host another charity event to benefit Houston. We love giving back to the community we call home. Between turkeys, canned goods, and toys, the giving never ends at Prime Social. You can help support their research by participating in this year’s tournament on May 20, 2020. The tournament will run from 6-10 pm at Prime Social Poker Room. We’re located at 7801 Westheimer Road in Houston, Texas. Options for participating include viewer only, sponsorship, or suggested donation of $200 for $2,500 in chips.
In January, we participated in Restock the Shelves in partnership with Ante Up magazine. Prime players once again proved they have more heart than their playing cards. We received over 5,000 canned goods to benefit the Houston Food Bank. Special thanks to all members who participated in the event, we couldn’t have done it without you! See your impact on the Houston community in our video:
Prime Social will be helping to restock the shelves this January, as the holiday season comes to an end. In fact, Ante Up Magazine and Blue Shark Optics launched the Restock the Shelves initiative due to shortages at food pantries following the holidays. This year Prime Social will be participating and donating to the Houston Food Bank.
Back in November, Prime helped the Houston Food Bank and their partner, WHAM, by hosting a Full House Feast. Prime members and staff donated dozens of turkeys and hundreds of canned goods to make the drive a success. In the end, the turkey drive provided many holiday meals for local Houston families in need.
After the Full House Feast, Prime moved on to the 2nd annual “All In” Toy drive. Likewise, this too was a huge success. We were able to donate hundreds of toys to a variety of organizations. Notably, all of the toys were donated by generous members and Prime staff.
In order to participate, canned goods and monetary donations will be collected. Just like Full House Feast, members who bring in 5 or more canned goods get free daily entry! Additionally, bring in $20+ of canned goods with receipt for time match, no limit!
We’re not alone in this adventure. Poker venues across the nation are working to refill their local food pantries. Each venue has unique events, sharing the same goal. To restock the shelves. However, we’re the only venue participating in Texas!
We need your help to Restock the Shelves this January. We’ve seen the hearts of Prime Social are bigger than just cards. Members and staff have shown again and again their generosity and spirit. Stop by Prime and use canned goods to get you playing your favorite games. Don’t forget, we’ve also brought back our guaranteed tournaments.
